Dedal Genial
“Dedal”, the Portuguese word for “Thimble”, is a small pitted cup worn on the finger that protects it from being pricked or poked by a needle while sewing. It is nearly as old as sewing itself, and has been in use since the 10th century.
A symbol of the art of handcrafted clothing, a symbol of careful sewing, a symbol of care for both clothing and workers. And these are the values we strive for at Dedal Genial – care, comfort, handmade luxury and sustainability for all – from workers to consumers.

The company was launched by Fernanda, a seasoned clothing manufacturing executive who has worked for nearly 40 years in this industry with some of the leading baby and kids’ clothing brands, from small boutiques to fast fashion, and exporting to 15 countries in 4 continents.
WHAT We Do
We provide OEM, CMT, and FFP for high-quality Baby, Kid, and Women’s clothing. Specializing in mid to high-end brands, we use organic woven and knitted fabrics with the Made in Portugal/Europe label.

Our manufacturing processes include Design, Pattern Making, Sampling, CMT (Cut, Make, and Trim), Steam and Press, Quality Control, Finishing and Packing, and VERTICAL Integration of: Fabric Development, Dyeing and Sublimation, Washing, Printing, Embroidery, Sequins, Crystals, Laser Cut.
Advanced Embroidery and Printing Services
We can produce and outsource multiple designs using the most advanced embroidery and printing techniques including Appliqué, Computerized (Tajima machines) and Hand-Embroidery, Digital Direct-to-Fabric, Digital Sublimation and Screen Printing.
WHY We Do It
In an industry stained by exploitation of workers and the planet, ethical malpractice, and lack of integration of the whole value chain, we aim to make things a bit different. We openly let our clients know everyone involved in the process, we partner up with small local manufacturers to stimulate the local economy, we promote a healthy work environment and we place sustainability at the top.
Over 60% of our production’s raw materials are according to REACH standards and we make sure that any toxic or restricted substance will not be present in products. We always explore and use the most sustainable materials possible: Organic cotton, Hemp, Eco- friendly EVA and silicone, Biodegradable PLA and FSC certified recycled paper. All organic and recycled materials we use are certified and we can provide relevant test reports (e.g. GOTS, Oeko-Tex);
